Atlantic took full control of Lasers, which was why the release of it was so delayed. They handpicked which songs they wanted to be on the album, resulting in much more radio-friendly and mainstream tracks. He won’t come out and say it, but he doesn’t like this album himself. His 3 album contract with Atlantic is now over… Food & Liquor 2 will be back to his old self!

I personally enjoyed the album though. The production was amazing from beginning to end… just his rapping was very subpar. In his first two albums and prior mixtapes, his words had meaning. These didn’t… But I really had no expectation for this album when it dropped because of all the difficulties that Lupe had to endure before release. It’d be amazing if he could put out another album as good as F&L and The Cool. Classics in my agenda.
